SDRSharp 1915 Released: RTL-SDR Crashes Fixed

Thank you to SDR# author Youssef for updating SDR# (SDRSharp) and fixing a recent bug that was causing RTL-SDR units to crash whenever the frequency was changed. We are putting this post out to inform everyone who was having this issue to please update their SDRSharp version to 1915 which can be downloaded from airspy.com/download. Our guide at www.rtl-sdr.com/QSG can be used to walk you through the installation procedure for RTL-SDR dongles in SDR#.

The new update brings the RTL-SDR control menu down to the sidebar making it much easier to control the gain and sample rate settings. Other recent changes have also brought improvements to the RDS decoder which will be useful for DXers.

Please remember to show your appreciation to Airspy for allowing RTL-SDR users on their platform by checking out their range of higher end softwire defined radio products at airspy.com.

Yes: problem with AM modulation and crashes VFO plugin in 1919 build. At first, problem sounds like total signal overload, later sound was lost finaly.

I have the same beef wih sdr consoles V3.0 & 3.2. sdr console has been in existence for almost 6 years and it still has not one signal processing plugin for the SDR user. the software has hundreds of features that are useless for live signal processing of received signals. So I route the audio from that app using virtual audio cable to Sdr sharp how lame. It’s basically an overblown UI catering to commercial software. it does not even have a raw output mode to widen the narrow band receiver bandwidth to 192khz for high bandwidth signals greater 32khz (which is limitation of the SDR radio being used) Despite this I do have to agree that the sdr sharp interface while simple to use, is a bit dated as such, I have been finding myself using sdr console more and more because the sdr sharp lacks the waterfall refinements that I come to prefer in sdr console. another thing I don’t like about sdr console is the seriously under utilized Server capabilities not a single internet listed sdr console server is online and running. still worse the website for sdr console need to ditch all the sliding site graphics and go to less dynamic more Static page. I will still have SDR sharp in my sdr toolkit for the foreseeable future until something better comes along.

SoYeah

I’m so confused why people still even use SDR# since it’s kinda a streaming peice of garbage, especially now and there are much better alternatives like SDR++

if you are using sdr# I recommend switching. It’s a night and day difference going from a horrible, slow clunky UI.

MELERIX

because SDR# support really useful plugins, while SDR++ still not.

SoYeah

doesn’t stop it from being a terrible clunky mess. SDR# plugin owners should port their stuff then.

MELERIX

yes, but until that happens… SDR# is still the only way to use these plugins for now, maybe in a future that will change.
